About the Author

Constance Sedler is one of the founding members of the Archaeological Research Institute in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. In addition to being a proponent of responsible public archaeology, Ms.Sedler has been an “adopted mom” to dogs, cats, horses, goats, sheep, and countless other unique and lovable creatures.

About Rex

On September 22, 2012, The Sedler family adopted Rex from
Schnauzer Rescue Cincinnati. He was a lonely puppy with little
background information. Three weeks later Rex was on a plane to
St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, to live with Liz Sedler while she
completed a construction project there. Rex has been Liz’s
constant companion ever since. Liz is now the Executive Director
of the Archaeological Research Institute. Rex greets visitors to the
Institute or rides with Liz to the Guard Archaeological Preserve.
Some say that Rex is the real boss of the organization.

About ARI

The Archaeological Research Institute (ARI) is a non-profit organization based in Lawrenceburg, IN, dedicated to the study and preservation of the region’s rich history through archaeological research. ARI operates as a 501(c)(3) organization, which means it is recognized by the United States Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt charitable organization.

ARI’s team of archaeologists leads the organization’s programming and activities, including research, public engagement & education, and archaeological preservation efforts. They are committed to providing hands-on opportunities for visitors, students, and volunteers, of all ages to engage with the field of archaeology and explore the local history.
